Role Overview
The Youth Pastor will oversee all aspects of middle school and high school ministry, including weekly gatherings, volunteer leadership development, parent partnership, discipleship environments, and mission engagement.
This role reports to the Discipleship Pastor and works closely with our Children’s Ministry team to ensure a clear and healthy transition from children into student ministry. The Youth Pastor supervises a part-time youth ministry staff member and oversees the student ministry budget. The Youth Pastor will also have occasional preaching opportunities in the main gathering (2-3 times per year).
Key Responsibilities
Discipleship & Pastoral Leadership
• Lead a gospel-centered student ministry (7th–12th grade)
• Shepherd students through relational discipleship and care
• Develop student leaders and disciple-making culture
• Help students grow in rhythms of faith and mission
Ministry Leadership
• Oversee weekly Wednesday night student gatherings
• Ensure faithful teaching and engaging environments
• Develop student participation and leadership opportunities
• Shape a healthy and sustainable ministry culture
Volunteer Development
• Recruit, train, and care for volunteer leaders
• Build a leadership culture marked by consistency and mission
• Equip leaders for relational discipleship
Parent Partnership & Next Gen Alignment
• Communicate and partner with parents
• Work closely with Children’s Ministry Director for transition strategy
• Align discipleship language and culture across Next Gen ministries
Mission & Outreach
• Lead retreats, mission trips, and outreach initiatives
• Cultivate a culture of evangelism among students
Systems & Administration
• Oversee ministry systems, communication, and scheduling
• Manage student ministry budget
• Supervise part-time youth staff
Qualifications
• A growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ
• Agreement with Hillside Church’s mission, vision, and theology
• Alignment with a soft complementarian understanding of leadership
• Bachelor’s degree from Bible college or seminary required
• Ordained or willing to pursue ordination
• Experience in student ministry or significant ministry leadership
• Strong relational, communication, and organizational ability
• Heart for discipleship, evangelism, and pastoral ministry

Position Details
